Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is an essential contribution to the development of a credible and respected body of knowledge. All parties involved are expected to adhere to ethical standards to ensure the integrity, quality, and transparency of the publication process.

Duties of Authors

1. Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate and objective account of the research performed, including sufficient detail and references to allow replication of the study.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Any use of other works must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.

3. Multiple or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting the same research to multiple journals constitutes unethical behavior.

4. Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.

5. Data Access and Retention

Authors should be prepared to provide raw data for editorial review and retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

Duties of Editors

1. Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published based on the validity, originality, and relevance to the journal scope.

2. Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts without regard to authors’ race, gender, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.

3. Confidentiality

Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents.

4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished materials for their own research without the author’s consent.

Duties of Reviewers

1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.

2. Promptness

Reviewers should complete their reviews within the specified time. If unable to review, they should inform the editor promptly.

3. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

4. Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively, supported by clear arguments. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.

5. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

6. Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

Duties of the Publisher

The publisher is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are independent and not influenced by commercial interests. The publisher supports the editorial board in maintaining ethical standards and handling misconduct cases.

Ethical Oversight

J-NESIS follows international standards in ethical oversight, including issues related to data integrity, plagiarism, authorship disputes, and conflicts of interest. Any suspected misconduct will be handled according to COPE guidelines: https://publicationethics.org/guidance.

Handling of Misconduct

In cases of suspected or proven misconduct (such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication), the journal will take appropriate action, including rejection, retraction, or notification to relevant institutions.

Retraction and Correction Policy

If significant errors or ethical violations are identified after publication, the journal may issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern as necessary.
